Welcome to the website of IAFF Local 2345.
On behalf of the executive board and members of Local 2345 I would like to thank you for your interest in our organization and for visiting our website.
Local 2345 is located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The mission of IAFF Local 2345 is continuous organizational improvement for all of our members while representing their interests with honesty and integrity in the areas of protecting their health and safety, maintaining a fair and equitable environment, and showing a civic pride by consistent community involvement.
To accomplish our mission requires nothing less than a highly responsive executive board, genuinely professional and thoroughly engaged membership, and a collaborative collegial working relationship with management.
Local 2345 is proud of its many partnerships with local charities. Some highlights of recent events include the Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics. Members take an icy plunge into the Atlantic Ocean every February in our part of this national event. Every Labor Day weekend our membership is out is force to "fill the boot" for Jerry's Kids and MDA research. Our newest charity is St. Baldric's Foundation for Children's Cancer Research. Participants raised funds and bids were taken at a live event to shave the heads of our members. The shaved heads is to show solidarity with the kids afflicted with such a devastating disease.
The Myrtle Beach Fire Department is made up of around 150 personal working out of six stations and an administration building. The department handles over 10,000 calls annually. The department is also the home department for South Carolina's Task Force II Urban Search and Rescue Team. Our Honor Guard is among the finest in the state and the Combat Challenge team has several state championships to its credit.
As we continue to grow our local we look forward to increased interaction with our local community and its charities. We want to continue to make the Myrtle Beach Fire Department the pride of South Carolina and the best place to work. Our membership is a diverse group coming from all over the country to the Grand Strand. It is this wide knowledge base that we strive to use and make ourselves into a progressive organization.
In closing, Local 2345 will continue to always learn from those who have served before us, and to always remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and have gone on to the life everlasting. Never forget. |
